Numerology - using number to enhance your luck - part1

Introduction

Numerology has long history in the western world as well as the Chinese Meta-Physical world. In fact, most of the Fengshui theories come from numerology as well. For example, HeTu, Luo Shu, Yin Yang, Yijing Hexagram, all have connection to numbers.

In here, I would like to touch on the numerology system that is quite popular in China. They are using it to select good mobile number to obtain specific results. 

This system is based on Ba Zhai or 8-Mansion system.

Ba Zhai or 8-Mansion system

The Ba Zhai or 8-Mansion system is based on the text: Ba Zhai Ming Jing 八宅明鏡 (Eight Mansions Bright Mirror) published in 1790 by Gu Wulu during the Qing Dynasty. Ba Zhai system consists of 8-Stars, mainly Fu Wei (伏位), Sheng Qi (生气), Tian Yi (天医), Yan Nian (延年), Jue Ming (绝命), Huo Hai (祸害), Liu Sha (六煞) and Wu Gui (五鬼).

The stars are derived based on changes of Yao in the Post-Heaven Bagua. 

The Oral Formula for Ba Zhai are:

Formula in English:

• 3 Yao don’t change: Fu Wei
• 3 Yao all change: Yan Nian
• Only upper Yao change: Sheng Qi
• Change middle and lower: Tian Yi
• Change upper and middle: Wu Gui
• Change upper and lower: Liu Sha
• Only change middle: Jue Ming
• Only change lower: Huo Hai

So, let use Li Gua as example. 

3 Yao don't change: Fu Wei, so Li Gua is Fu Wei.

3 Yao all change is Yan Nian. So, using Li 9, all Yao change from Yin to Yang and Yang to Yin, you will get: Kan

So, Kan is Yan Nian.

Only Upper Yao change is Sheng Qi.So, the upper Yao change from Yang to Yin, you get Zhen Gua.

So, Zhen is Sheng Qi

Change middle and lower Yao is Tian Yi. So, the middle Yao change from Yin to Yang, lower Yao change from Yang to Yin, you get Xun Gua.

=> 

So, Xun is Tian Yi

Change upper and middle: Wu Gui. Change upper Yang to Yin, middle Yin to Yang, you get Dui Gua.

=> 

So, Dui Gua is Wu Gui.

Change upper and lower: Liu Sha. Change upper Yang to Yin and lower Yang to Yin, you get Kun Gua. 

=> 

So Kun Gua is Liu Sha.

Only change middle: Jue Ming. Change the middle Yin Yao to Yang, you get Qian Gua. 

=> 

So Qian Gua is Jue Ming.

Only change lower: Huo Hai. Change the lower Yang to Yin, you get Gen Gua.

=> 

So Gen Gua is Huo Hai

Therefore, the end results of Ba Zhai stars distribution as follow:

The same method is used for the rest of the Gua and hence there is 8 different charts in Ba Zhai. So, you have Fu Wei at Kan 1, Kun 2, Zhen 3, Xun 4, Qian 6, Dui 7, Gen 8 and Li 9. 

Mapping number to the system

This is done by using each Ba Zhai chart and mapped it with the Gua number. For example, Gua #1 chart, using the 8-Star position + the Gua number, you will get a set of 2 digit combination:

This is combination of Gua Qi. Therefore, 81 is the same as 18 and so on. In the nutshell, the number combination and relavent Qi as follow:
